Patricia Boumphrey was born Patricia Brooks on 29th August 1938 in Bristol, to her parents Rosslyn and Kitty Brooks. They moved to Rhodesia soon after the war and she qualified as a doctor at the University of Witwatersrand. She returned to the UK and married Francis Boumphrey in October 1963. They had three children, John, Ruth and Luke. Patricia was a GP in West London and was known to her patients as Dr. Brooks.
In retirement she also worked at Ealing Library and at the Ealing branch of Oxfam. She died peacefully and pain-free at Acton Care Home on August 11th. Pat was intelligent, independent, generous and enjoyed life. Her desire always to live life her own way also brought its own challenges. She leaves behind her children and grandchildren and many, many friends from all around the world, dating back to her schooldays at Roedean. She will be missed.
